| PURPOSE
To serve CSFA, it's directors, committees, individual members, participating associations and others, as directed, regarding matters pertaining to fire service education, standards and practices. Members attend the annual CSFA conference and submit written and oral committee reports. The committee also provides program quality control for the Fire Services Training Institute (FSTI). GOALS OF THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE -
To be a strong and united voice for training. -
To monitor education programs statewide dealing with fire protection. -
To collect and evaluate data, and then disseminate the committee's findings to those CSFA members/groups requesting information and/or assistance in the field of fire protection education. -
To promote the concept of professional recognition for firefighters. -
To support the Fire Services Training Institute. HISTORY & RATIONAL
To preserve the integrity of the fire service, it must achieve recognition as a profession. Too often manipulative training aspects of fire suppression have overshadowed the need for a recognized professional education program for the expanding field of fire protection. FIRE SERVICES TRAINING INSTITUTE (FSTI)
FSTI is a non-profit and tax exempt public benefit corporation providing training throughout California. and is part of the CSFA corporate family. The chair of the education committee is also a ex-officio member of the FSTI board of directors and serves a critical roll. The education committee provides FSTI program oversight and program development. It is the CSFA Education Committee that is the quality control for FSTI. |
