A Message From The President

Michael S. Williams, President

Michael S. Williams
President & Executive Director

On behalf of the Fire Services Training Institute, I would like to welcome you to our website. FSTI is dedicated to providing firefighter training and promoting public safety throughout California. FSTI is the culmination of the efforts of many dedicated public safety professionals with years of practical experience. Contributors to the website include firefighters, EMT's, paramedics, investigators and police officers.

Over the years, I have been asked about program development and standards. While FSTI does not engage in the development of standards, testing, policy or practices, we encourage and actively solicit individual experts and the input of committees such as STEAC, FIRESCOPE and the CSFA Education and Volunteer Committees. FSTI is committed to the delivery of programs that meet or exceed the standards and training mandates set by these fire service leaders.

The motto of FSTI is Adapt, Overcome, Improvise and Persevere. We strive to instill these values in all of our programs and the quality of the training services we provide.

The Institute is looking for the best instructors in California. FSTI instructors must be certified by such organizations as the California State Fire Marshall (SFM), the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) and/or the California Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST). All instructors will have attended ethics training with a signed Instructor Code of Ethics and Conduct on file. If you are interested in becoming a contracted instructor, please send a resume and cover letter to the following address:
